| Summary, etc. | Over the last decades, the pace of progress in technology has been rapid, especially in the<br/>information communication technologies. The recent advances which have changed the way<br/>people live is the smartphone. It has become an inseparable element of people’s lives in modern<br/>society, in particular young people’s daily lives. A smartphone is not solely a cell phone, it is also<br/>a computer, MP3 player, Video player, Notebook, etc. In North Cyprus, there has not been a study<br/>to determine university students’ smartphones usage status. For this reason, the main purpose of<br/>the study was to redress this lack. 318 students attended the study. A questionnaire was used to<br/>collect data. Mann Whitney-U, Anova, frequently and percentage were used during the analysis<br/>process. The results showed that the students spend much more time using a smartphone.<br/>However, their academic performance and social interactions have not been affected. |
