Özet: Why the Cyprus example have been chosen vis a vis to post Dayton Bosnia and the Middle East is that there are many parallel processes and actors of peacebuilding approach exhausted in Cyprus similar to Bosnia and the Middle East. And Cyprus despite its intractable nature the avenues to increase public confidence/incentives in peace by early 1990s seemed reachable compared to Bosnia and Mideast. The process of peace has been tested in Cyprus from which feedback for other conflicts can be learnt. In this framework, the article begins with a consideration of the liberal peace and the understanding of the peacebuilding that underlines it. Against this background, the concept of reconciliation and the debate ‘reconciliation versus justice’ as a paradigm which hold an important position in the conflict resolution/peacebuilding efforts is discussed. Next, I describe the efforts of peacebuilding of external actors in Cyprus and the outcomes of those policies in terms of peacebuilding. I discuss some of the possible reasons of failure of efforts in Cyprus while pinpointing to similar challenges in Bosnia-Herzogovina and the Middle East. Finally, I argue that the ‘everyday’ paradigma can be the new element of ongoing peacebuilding practices.
