Çevrimiçi kaynaklar:Tez notu: Thesis (Master) Özet: The International Maritime Organization (IMO) in its attempt to avert the global environmental crisis continues to provide policies to mitigate anthropogenic emissions from the transport industry. The greenhouse gas emissions from the transport industry are relatively large, alarming, and continue to increase. Therefore, it is the focal point for the fight against global warming. This article reviews transport emissions with a focus limited to maritime and road transport. The purpose of this review article is to compare maritime and road transport from an emission perspective. Thus, it aims to create a source for future studies and to contribute to the existing literature. This study has used the PRISMA method to evaluate and review relevant scientific papers published. For this purpose, sixty-two articles published from 2012-2022 were found through the keywords search. After a screening of the full body text, eight articles were selected for the final review. The data and evidence across the articles reviewed have suggested that maritime transport contributes relatively little to the transport’s CO2 emissions footprint, given the enormous volume of freight transported. This study presents a review that highlights the comparative advantage of maritime and road transport from an emission perspective. It supports the environmental superiority of maritime transport in terms of CO2 emission and presents an infrastructure for further scientific comparison. Keywords: Ship emissions; road emissions; GHG emissions; PRISMA; systematic literature review
